Discover ZIRCON: The streamlined software for fast, reliable in-situ sound barrier measurements. Whether you’re a seasoned acoustician or new to the field, ZIRCON makes compliance with EN 1793 and EN 16272 standards easier than ever.

ZIRCON 1.0 is a software tool for the measurement of the in-situ acoustic properties of sound barriers.
Key features:

  • Covers EN 1793-3/4/5/6 and EN 16272-3/4/5/6 standards
  • Simple workflow derived from DIRAC
  • Optimized for MA24/MA25 arrays, LS24 loudspeaker, CI24 control unit. Can be used with other hardware
  • Measurement results available immediately, onsite

ZIRCON startup

ZIRCON starts with the Project window, where you can load an existing project or open the Measurement window to start a measurement.

After installing ZIRCON on your PC, you should select the sound device that will be used for measurements. By default ZIRCON will use the devices that are configured as defaults in the Windows Control Panel. In most cases however, you will want to use a dedicated device such as the CI24. You can set up the sound device using the Sound Device... item on the Setup menu.

After setting up the hardware, you can proceed to configure the measurement settings in the Measurement window.

Use the gain slider to set a suitable output level, and select the microphone configuration for your measurements. Start the measurement, and when it is done you should see the measurement thumbnails in the project window.

Once the reference and barrier measurements have been performed, you can proceed to process measurements. Use the Zircon option on the Process menu to display the Zircon window.

The Zircon process will create a new group with processed files that can be used to inspect the relevant parameters. The available parameters depend on the selected measurement type. They are a subset of the parameters that can be configured in the Parameter Setup window.

The selected parameter can be displayed as a graph or in a table.

Individual measurements and processed files can be viewed in detail in the IR view.

As seen above, ZIRCON delivers the essential tools for barrier measurements, without all the extra options provided by DIRAC, allowing you to focus on the task at hand.
